True Sportsmanship
During the spring season of 2008, Sara Tucholsky, of Western Oregon University, did something she had never done before,
in high school or college. She hit a blast over the center-field fence for her first homerun.
But, during her run around the bases, she collapsed with a knee injury. She crawled back to first but could do no more.
The first-base coach said she would be called out if her teammates tried to help her. Then, opposing players of the Central
Washington University softball team stunned spectators by helping Sara fulfill her dream.
While the ESPN video has the feel of a well produced documentary, the following video captures the experience
of fans who were actually at the game that day. This is the video footage shot by Sue Wallin, who was able to capture
the action with her hand-held camcorder.
This amazing story may be told best in this 6 minute video produced by ESPN.
First seen on the ESPN television network, this video is well produced recounting of the event,
complete with interviews of key players and actual game video footage.
